This site deals with developments in and the application of science

Science provides deep insight into how the world works. It is an enabler for decision making and action not because it is infallible but because it provides a means to formulate the best explanations of what does or may happen. Where "best" means providing assurance through tests, understanding and consistency, while standing up against comparison with alternative explanations.

Explanations provide grounds for decision and action. They can motivate and direct the decision maker and actor, and an explanation can be provided to and understood by others. Scientific explanations take us away from personal subjective and reactionary actions to having reasons for acting that can be understood, shared and criticised.

To qualify as science an explanatory structure must be consistent and provide statements of fact that can, in principle, be shown to be false through experiment or analytical proof.
